At this time of year breakouts of head lice can be quite common. It is very important to check hair regularly for head lice and to treat if necessary. We would ask that all long hair be tied neatly back and any break outs of head lice be communicated to the school.
Thank you to everyone who dropped bags of unwanted clothes and shoes to the school in the past week . There were over 150 large bags of clothing collected. The clothes will be collected tomorrow morning before school. Money collected goes towards paying for various resources throughout the year – new books, games for the classrooms, buses for Cumann na mBunscol etc.
A huge well done to all the children and families who supported the Shoebox Appeal for Team Hope this year. The shoeboxes were collected today by Helen Canny and will be brought to the warehouse in Ennis to be sorted and shipped.
Thank you to the children in 4th class who helped Helen load the boxes. A total of 73 boxes were collected.
We were delighted to receive the Accelerated Reader award for Top Performing School in the Republic of Ireland from the people at Renaissance Learning. Watch our video which was on display at the recent award ceremony in London.
You can also listen to the Podcast on Clare FM when the teacher and pupils were interviewed about the prize.
The class worked together to research and design a project on what they felt made Clare a unique county. They suggested and researched areas such as the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, Biddy Early, traditional Irish music and dance, and of course Clare GAA. (more…)
Last week was European Active Week. For the last two weeks all children in the school ran laps of the pitch every day. The infant and middle room ran, walked or jogged two laps every day. Children in 5th and 6th class ran for at least ten minutes each day. Last week the weather unfortunately was not on our side so the children didn’t get out on Wednesday or Friday. Instead the children did some Go Noodle activities in their classrooms to ensure that they all got moving.
Over the course of the two weeks all the children together ran a combined total of 1,731 laps of the field. Remember it is so important to get out and active every day!
Well done to all the children who took part in Lees Road athletics in Ennis. They did the school proud and came away with a number of medals. An excellent achievement. Thank you to Mrs Conlon who helped prepare the children, to Ms O’Loughlin and all the parents who helped and gave support on the day.
