Halloween Fun

The Student Council have been busy planning lots of fun activities for Halloween and the last day before mid term break. They also gave the teachers a lovely treat for World Teachers Day.

3rd and 4th Class FAI FUTSAL

12 boys and girls competed in a football blitz held in Tulla Football Club on October 8th. The weather held out and a great day was had by all. Thanks to all parents who volunteered their time and transported our eager footballers. They gave great support and cheer to the players. Thanks also to Brian McMahon who greatly inspired our team by rehearsing before play their many goal celebrations. As usual the children represented the school and parish with great pride. A credit to all.

Code Week 2019

  •     Code Week 2019

Take a look at some highlights of code week in the video. Thank you to Miss O’Loughlin for helping the pupils create their own animations using the Scratch computer program.

Stem Challenge in the Senior Room

Pupils in 4th, 5th and 6th class were challenged with building a rainforest dwelling/house that would withstand monsoon conditions. They were encouraged to use natural materials as far as possible. Children used wooden blocks; mud; twigs; leaves; elastic bands; bits of tiles/slates and some tinfoil for the roof.

All houses were well designed and survived the initial monsoon weather conditions (rain – and wind). However when they began to dry out in the coming days some houses suffered damage to the walls from the dry conditions – the walls became too dry and started cracking. They had great fun designing and building the houses and putting them to the test.

Lees Road Athletics

The annual East Clare Primary Schools cross country event took place yesterday in Lees Road. Well done to all the children who took part – over thirty children represented the school at the event. Thank you to Mrs Conlon, Mary and all the parents who attended the event and helped the children on the day. Congratulations to Aoibheann Daly who goes on to represent the school at the county day in November.

Rugby comes to Feakle National School

The senior room are taking part in tag rugby sessions for the next four weeks. Ben, a coach from Munster rugby, will visit the school on Friday mornings to go through the basics of playing tag rugby. Today the children practiced some ball throwing before playing bulldog tag. It was really enjoyable. At the end of the four sessions there will be a tag rugby tournament hosted by Scariff RFC which the class will attend.

Coding in 2nd & 3rd

Second and Third are enjoying coding with the assistance of Miss O’Loughlin. Already they have coded their sprite Casey to jump on his trampoline and their tropical birds to fly around the jungle.
