Lees Road Athletics

The annual East Clare Primary Schools cross country event took place yesterday in Lees Road. Well done to all the children who took part – over thirty children represented the school at the event. Thank you to Mrs Conlon, Mary and all the parents who attended the event and helped the children on the day. Congratulations to Aoibheann Daly who goes on to represent the school at the county day in November.

Rugby comes to Feakle National School

The senior room are taking part in tag rugby sessions for the next four weeks. Ben, a coach from Munster rugby, will visit the school on Friday mornings to go through the basics of playing tag rugby. Today the children practiced some ball throwing before playing bulldog tag. It was really enjoyable. At the end of the four sessions there will be a tag rugby tournament hosted by Scariff RFC which the class will attend.

Handshake for Europe 2019

The pupils of Feakle National School celebrated Europe Day with a huge handshake for Europe. Our local Councillors; Joe Cooney, Pat Hayes & Tony O’Brien joined in our celebrations and came to see the project work 3rd & 4th Class did for our Blue Star Programme this year.

Our Blue Star Award

We were delighted to receive a 5 year Blue Star Award for participation in the Blue Star Programme. The pupils of 3rd & 4th Class travelled to Dublin to accept the award for all our pupils, past and present, who have worked on projects about the history, geography and culture of countries in the European Union since 2012.

The Minister for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, presented the award in Iveagh House, Dublin and we displayed our project work for Ministers and Ambassadors who were there to see our project work.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Well done to all the children who came out and marched with the school float. The theme chosen for this year’s float was the Blue Star Programme. The school has participated in this programme for the last five years and whilst doing so learn about different aspects of the European Union.

Each child dressed up in the colours of the country and we had two flag bearers. Hope you all had a lovely St. Patrick’s weekend.
